Producers of these items assumed that people from everywhere would be able to consume their products without a corresponding effort to make that consumption easier. Key indictors of an intended global audience and market include no customization to the consoles or hardware to better accomodate other locations outside of the originating one, such as no adapted eletrical plug or a universal console design.
